Acute abdominal pain and frequency therapy
Definition:
Acute abdominal pain is a sudden, intense pain in the abdominal area that is often considered an emergency and requires immediate medical attention. It can be triggered by a variety of causes, ranging from harmless to life-threatening conditions.
Causes:

Symptoms:
- Sudden, severe pain in the abdominal area
- Nausea and vomiting
- Fever
- Flatulence or bloating
- Changes in bowel movements (diarrhoea or constipation)
Diagnosis:
Diagnosis requires a thorough medical history and physical examination. Additional diagnostic procedures may include blood tests, ultrasound, X-rays, CT scans or an endoscopy.
Treatment:
Treatment depends on the underlying cause and may include the following:
- Drug therapy to relieve pain and treat infection
- Surgical interventions, e.g. for appendicitis or bowel obstruction
- Fluid intake and electrolyte balance for dehydration
